About Cortland Eye Center

Cortland Eye Center was originally owned by Dr. Dean Mitchell who began the ophthalmology practice in 1982.  In 1997, the building was enlarged and an Optometrist and an Optician joined the staff.  When he retired in 2006, Dr. Jacqueline Fergerson took ownership of Cortland Eye Center. We have continued to grow and most recently (2009) added another Optometrist to our staff.

Cortland Eye Center is proud of our staff members, many of them with longevity of up to 25 years with the practice. We believe that our staff members are the heart of Cortland Eye Center. The qualities that they convey to our patients have an impact much greater than our office décor, our building, or our equipment.  Our staff members are involved in many community volunteer activities including; CRMC Hospital Aid, American Cancer Society –RFL, Cortland County Chamber of Commerce, YWCA, 1890 House Board, Access To Independence/Vision Support Group, and have served on local School Boards.

We believe that our patients are our most important assets. Cortland Eye Center is dedicated to providing a full range of eye care services delivered by a well-trained and professional staff. We are committed to maintaining a high standard of care in a friendly and compassionate environment. We strive to continually improve our services and to exceed expectations.
